Phase 3: Future Design Considerations

  • Frame Design
    • The frame must move on two axes
      • First Axis controlled by the heliostat to provide daily tracking of the sun
      • Second Axis controlled manually for annual positioning toward sun
      • PDI Pictures
      • To save power, daily axis must be through the centroid

Double Pivot Conept

  • Solar Panels
    • Can we use the solar panels instead of photo resistors.
    • Charge battery by solar panels.
  • Power Draw Problem
    • Further testing should be performed to ensure a full day of power
    • Test the heliostat running indoors and record the power life
      • Checking Voltage Readings over course of a day
        • Voltage divider
      • dsaf
        • Consider an alternative battery source if tests results are not promising
